Our sweet Caitlin Mae

At 7:26 a.m. on March 28, we welcomed our daughter into the world and our hearts. She arrived one day shy of 41 weeks via induction, but it happened much differently than we anticipated.

We had arrived at the hospital the night before to start the first part of the induction process, with the expectation that labor wouldn't begin until I was given medication the next morning. Well, my water broke unexpectedly that same night and the doctor gave orders to go ahead and give me the contraction-inducing medication that was supposed to wait until the morning. After suffering through about half an hour of intense contractions, I elected to have an epidural. My hat is off to all the women out there who go natural - you are much stronger me and you have my utmost respect and admiration!

The epidural was amazing - I've honestly never felt more relaxed and comfortable in my entire life, which is pretty amusing considering I was in the middle of childbirth. The epidural allowed me to get two much-needed hours of sleep, at the end of which the nurse called the doctor and told Jason to wake up because it was time to have a baby! Just a half hour of pushing and she was here.

Meeting my daughter for the first time
We knew our kid would probably have some hair, but seriously?!
She's definitely going to be a Daddy's girl

We have made the transition to home and are now trying to figure out this whole parenting thing. There are definitely tears (from both me and Caitlin), nights with way too little sleep, and lots of questions/fears, but we are still so indescribably happy to be parents of this perfect little girl.

I love all Caitlin Mae photos and am proud to be her great aunt! Bob plays an occasional lullaby to her on his guitar. Thinking of you, and looking forward to the next Skype call.
